The Two of You, Inc, (TTY) will enhance the success rate of single parent mothers by providing a safe and caring atmosphere where the necessary training and developmental skills will be obtained to secure healthy relationships with their child and others.
Our mission is to help
the unwed, first-time
expectant mothers between the ages of 14 and 23, or mothers with one child under the age of 3 months, become a successful parent, emotionally secure, and financially independent by the end of our program.
Method:
In addition to providing safe housing, TTY will also provide an atmosphere of a caring family environment. Parents will be required to work together to provide assistance to one another. The Two of You, Inc. will provide hands on training in child care and preparation for the employment arena. Self-independence will be promoted by providing training and encouragement in the following areas:
A. Parental child care training
B. Healthy independent life styles
C. Utilize referrals and social services
D. Empowered by technical training
E. Tools for gaining employment
F. Natural and spiritual encouragement
G. Child care coverage
H. Personal and financial counseling
A. PARENTAL CHILD CARE PROGRAM
Each expectant mother will be required to attend and complete a parental care program. Classes will be mandatory and given by a paid or volunteer professional. Lamaze as a birth method would be an option by the birth mother; however, this class is mandatory.
All expectant mothers and children must have a Primary Care Physician and must be covered under their own medical insurance.
B. INDEPENDENT LIVING STYLES
Apartments will be shared by two or three mothers (depending on the size of the apartment). Their responsibilities and training will be as a single parent. They will be responsible for paying all or portions of their rent, food, electrical bills, etc. (Depending upon the financial status of TTY and the individual.)
C. REFERRALS AND SOCIAL SERVICES
TTY will provide names of different local and Federal services available and train expectant mothers on how to utilize State and Federal Social Services. TTY will provide representatives to present accurate information about their services during a schedule group session.
All residents will be required to work on premises as a part of their contract and resident requirements. Work sites will be in areas such as:
a) Business-clerical related work
b) Housekeeping
c) Day Care
d) Ground keepers
There will be stipends awarded to expectant mothers (depending on financial status of budget) or an exchange service provided).
Classes on interviewing techniques and proper resume formats will be provided.
E. EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER ASSISTANCE
TTY w ill provide a list of job fairs as well as employment opportunities as they become available to us. Basic skills will be provided such as; computer skills, interviewing techniques and time management skills.
F. SPIRITUAL ENCOURAGEMENT
Mothers will participate in individual and group ehancement classes designed to build self esteem. Through these sessions they will began to understand their purpose in life. For those who desire to gain more knowledge about Jesus Christ Our Savior, sessions will also be available.

G. CHILD CARE
Child care will be provided for working parents. Parents who have other valid appointments of social and/or business related ventures deemed appropriate by the by-laws of The Two of You, Inc. Child care is only provided for children up to ages 3.

Counseling will be provided and is mandatory. This program will include counseling in the area of:
